Sasha is not just a rapper, she is also a law student as well as a designer and has her own line named 'Eclectic'. She first came on the scene in 2001 when she won first runner-up at the 'Girl's Night Out' talent search and moved up from there. At this years MAMAs she was nominated for the Best Female Award. She was up against some of Africa's finest but came out with the win. This was the first time Nigeria has won in this category, as Kenya reigned supreme for the past two years. Congrats to Sasha and Nigeria!!
Other big winners included:
Best Male: 2Face (Nigeria)
Song of the Year: Liquideep (“Fairytale”) (South African)
Best Performance: Big Nuz (South Africa)
As you can see, Nigeria won big at the MAMAs. The U.S. was also represented that night, by Eve, Chuck D, Eminem, Rick Ross, and T-Pain. Chuck D, of Public Enemy, presented the MAMA Legend Award, which was won by the late Miriam Makeba. Eminem brought home a win for himself for Best International act that he accepted the award via satellite. The awards show opened with a dynamic, solo performance of Rick Ross' BMF (Blowing Money Fast) and ended with a world first collaborative performance of T-Pain's "Win". The performance included T-Pain, Rick Ross, South African Hip Hop artist Da L.E.S. and 2Face. It was a night to remember for Nigeria, as they represented well and won big for their home. NIGERIA STAND UP!!!
