Femcee Friday-Signif

Signif is not your typical femcee. The most popular female emcees these days use their sexuality to retain a status of ‘head femcee in the game’. Signif approaches the music industry in a different light; a real light. She doesn’t use all the makeup and flashy clothes. She uses her lyrics and smooth delivery to catch your attention. Below is a brief biography from twokidsfromvermont.com:

Signif or Significant, born and raised in Milwaukee was first put on to Hip Hop by her older brothers and started doing poetry at the age of 8. Poetry eventually turned into freestyle, and then into song writing as a result of her love for music. Her style can be described as just that, her, it's how she lives and breathes. Signif is one of a new breed of artists that would be classified as "Reality Rap" in that her writing direction doesn't depend on the latest trend, but rather what she feels, or whatever the track brings out at that moment. With a versatile flow that ranges from intense to laid back, Signif uses her words to paint vivid images of the world through her eyes. Signif is a complex artist with a simple message which is, "it's OKAY to be you." We live in a time with a lot of fads and modern day aristocracies and people desperately seeking approval. She just wants to remind everyone out there that "it's OK to be yourself."

She recently released a video for her song ‘Lovely Imperfections’:

This track is from her January 2010 release The Transition. It is being said that it was one of the most slept on album in 2010. She released a new single ‘What Matters’ in November 2010, which is off of her upcoming project Significant Wi(z)dom. Peep:
