BEEF: B.o.B vs Tyler, The Creator

It all started when Tyler, the Creator decided to call out B.o.B in his single "YONKERS." The line was “I’ll crash that f--kin’ airplane that f----t n--ga B.o.B. is in," which, of course, B.o.B took offense to. So B.o.B decided to release an Odd Future dis track entitled "No Future." B.o.B definitely goes in on the track calling them "rookies" as well as "beginners." Not to mention the last line of the song, in which he says, "You keep f---ing with me, you won't have no future." Tyler had this to say about the track via twitter:
"Whoa. I Don't Think The 'No Future' Song Is Even A Diss. But, Ive Never Heard Him Spit Like That. Took Me By Surprise, Cus Its Tight. Still Hate That Airplanes Song Tho. It Has The Same Chord Progression As Fucking 'Love The Way You Lie' And That One Song By Katy Perry Actually, All The Music Now Days Have The Same Chord Progression, With That Dumbass Techno Synth, Or Like, Garage Band Drums."
Hmmm...Tyler holds back no punches. Of course, fans of both sides had something to say about B.o.B's track in particular. Some say he went hard and others say he could have went harder on the track.

You decide...

Wind-it-Back Wednesday--Goodie Mob-Cell Therapy

Album: Soul Food (1995)

Goodie Mob, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is widely considered one of the founding hip hop acts of the Dirty South movement. Members Cee-Lo (Thomas Callaway), Khujo Goodie (Willie Knighton, Jr.), T-Mo Goodie (Robert Barnett), and Big Gipp (Cameron Gipp) make up the group, which has been functioning since 1995.

"GOODIE MOB", as it's written on their album covers, stands for "GOOD DIE Mostly Over Bullshit". Cee-Lo notes in a song off the Soul Food album that, "[If] you take out one 'O' it stands for 'GOD Is Every Man Of Blackness.' "

Its members were all born in Atlanta, and the group is based there with the rest of the Dungeon Family, a collective which includes OutKast and P.A. (Parental Advisory). Goodie was first heard featured on several songs from OutKast's first album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.

Cee-Lo was the most visible member of the group prior to his departure in 2000 (among other projects, he is now recording as Gnarls Barkley), while Big Gipp has made several rounds on other Dungeon Family members' albums, and T-Mo and Khujo form a duo within the group called The Lumberjacks.

I still remember all of the words to this one and I haven't listened to it since the late 90s. This is where Cee-Lo got his start (for the new Cee-Lo fans).

No Fantastic Voyage for Foxy

MTV-Inga “Foxy Brown” Marchand and her very public legal snafus and history of erratic behavior continue to plague the rapper and now, Foxy can add another unwanted feather to her ill-fitting cap.
Foxy Brown was an invited performer on the Tom Joyner Morning Show Fantastic Voyage cruise, an annual event put on by the popular morning radio personality. During his radio broadcast yesterday morning (March 25), Joyner announced to his listening public that he and his staff had to take rather drastic measures to get Foxy Brown to vacate the cruise. “We put Foxy off the cruise. Let’s just say she got put off,” revealed Joyner on his show. “You had to really act a fool to get put off.”
Details are sketchy, but reports say that earlier this week Foxy Brown was a phoned in guest on the show and seemingly got disconnected from Joyner and his co-hosts. However, Joyner was forgiving once he realized that Foxy Brown ended the call abruptly as the Ill Na Na did call back. “You know Foxy, after the interview, she called back and she was crying. And I said, ‘See, she’s gonna be alright.’ Well, I was proven wrong,” shared Joyner.
Joyner said Foxy was sent back to her quarters and ordered to be held down until whatever situation she was embroiled in simmered down, but the hosts stated that their actions didn’t suffice. According to Joyner’s co-host Sybil, Brown was booted from the ship and subsequently escorted to a nearby airport.
Foxy Brown has yet to offer any comment surrounding the incident.
I feel bad for Foxy Brown.  I'm hoping she can get it together.  It seems like she needs real help.  I really do feel bad for the woman.

Pusha T: Fear of God (Mixtape)

The long-awaited mixtape from Clipse member Pusha T is finally here. Pusha T cites his brother Malice as the inspiration for the mixtape due to him not being there while Pusha was writing for the project.

"I was ready to start a new album, after Til the Casket Drops," he explained to Miss Info. "Malice said, 'Nah I can't right now.' I was like, 'You sure? You serious?' He said, 'I'm just gonna finish up this book. I want to get these thoughts out'…so when I started writing the first thing for Fear of God, it scared the hell outta me. My brother's not there, [I thought]. Reality set in so quick, like after bar four."

Even though it was tough for him in the beginning, Pusha T made it through and has now released Fear of God.

SMH NEWS!!

Master P & Gucci Mane Making a Movie; Young Buck’s Bankruptcy Woes; Snoop Dogg Accused of Promoting Teenage Drinking; The Ready To Die Cover Baby Speaks…

Rappers Master P and Gucci Mane are now set to work on a movie together titled Get Money. The movie is said to be about a street “philosopher” and street hustler who are going through a mid-life crisis. Gucci Mane will be trying to get Master P’s character, Monster, to get away from his life of crime to go into the hip hop business. Just as Monster begins to get away from that life, the two steal $1 million from a rival gang. Got it? Good. The movie is supposed to be in theatres (yes, I said theatres) August 2011.

Now…this movie is about to be garbage; just all bad in every way possible. Ummm…remember Hot Boyz? Whack!!! I have a feeling this could be just as bad if not worse. And who told Gucci Mane he should act? He can barely speak clearly enough to understand what he is saying in his rhymes and now he’s trying to act…Hell to the Naw!!! I swear people will tell you anything to get money from you. SMH…

Young Buck is up to 14 claims equaling $11.5 million against him in his current bankruptcy proceedings. Majority of which, $10 million to be exact, is from G-Unit alone. Buck’s lawyer states that his G-Unit contract was unfair to him because it didn’t allow him to conduct business as he needed.

"One of the biggest problems with Buck's situation is not only that it's so complex, but also that he didn't understand it," she said in an interview with The Tennessean. "The money went in and the money went out and Buck's universe of knowledge about his financial state is a balance on an ATM receipt. … Buck never knew at one point, at several points, that he was a millionaire."

Really? An ATM receipt? My goodness! I don’t even count that as my financial state and I don’t have all the money that he had. That statement about him not knowing he was a millionaire…I find this somewhat hard to believe. Ok, say he didn’t know he was a millionaire; even if he didn’t, he knew he had money. He had a house and he had very expensive items in this house. He had cars and let’s not forget the jewelry (rented or not, that costs some serious dollars). I am not buying it…AT ALL. AT ALL. SMH…

The Marin Institute, who is an alcohol industry watchdog, recently accused Snoop Dogg of endorsing Colt 45’s new canned drink “Blast.” Marin believes that because of Snoop and other endorsers are using their popularity to endorse underage drinking due to numerous students, ages 17-19, reporting injuries at several universities. Wow! This is ridiculous. The endorsers of any product have nothing to do with who it reaches. These kids are going to drink regardless of who they see on the advertisement. In the end, they do what they want to do. Unless Snoop Dogg is telling these kids directly to go out and drink this, I don’t see how you can accuse him of causing the underage drinking. So...SHUT UP AND LET THE MAN BE!!! SMH…

Remember that baby (see pic)? Some have said it was Biggie. Some have also said that it was the son of Diddy's former stylist. Well, apparently both theories are false. At least, according to a new story that has popped up.

Keithroy Yearwood, a high school senior from the Bronx, is now going around and telling people that he is the baby on the cover of Biggie’s Ready to Die album.

"Every time people find out they ask me if I got a lot of money out of it.”

Apparently, he only got $150 for the two-hour photo shoot that was done through a modeling agency. Diddy found him through a casting agency. No one can actually verify if that is him on the cover of the album or not.

"I just want people to know that's me," Yearwood said. "The truth is finally coming out."

I don’t get it. Why even bring it up if you don’t want something more than just people knowing it was you? Who cares who that baby was? I know I don’t. If you noticed in the video he said his two favorite songs form the album were "Big Poppa" and "Juicy", and he only likes "Big Poppa" because of the chorus? Have you even listened to the album or did you just hear it on the radio? People have been trying to figure out who that baby was for years. Practically since the day it came out. Why say anything now? Someone is trying to get some limelight or maybe trying to rekindle their modeling career…*clears throat*. SMH…

Wind-It-Back Wednesday--LL Cool J

LL Cool J (Ladies Love Cool James) has had one hell of a career in hip hop. As an emcee, LL knew when to come hard on a track and when it was time to be romantic for the ladies. He started rapping at the age of nine and at the age of 16 he sent out a self recorded demo to record companies, including Def Jam Recordings. His first single, "I Need A Beat", landed him a distribution deal with Def Jam in 1985. With 12 albums under his belt, a few of which went platinum and double platinum, he has made a huge impact in hip hop today.

Some of his history through video...ENJOY!

In 2008, before the release of his last album, LL Cool J released the first mixtape of his entire career, entitled The Return of  the G.O.A.T. The mixtape includes freestyles from LL as well as other rappers' versions of his songs.

Wyclef Jean Shot in Haiti

Wyclef Jean got shot, but fear not. He got shot in the hand and is in the hospital. See the story below for details from In Flex We Trust:

(DefendHT)–Distressing reports came in at 12:00am, election day, March 20th 2011, that hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean had been shot and was at a hospital seeking treatment.
News reports claim that Wyclef was passing through Delmas #65 in Port-au-Prince when a hail of gunfire was showered into the car. Jean was in the car with Busta Rhymes, Jimmy Rosemond and other members of his entourage. No other passengers in the vehicle were injured.
The injury was inflicted to Wyclef Jean’s right hand. The same hand that made him a star as a guitar playing revolutionary of hip-hop.
Haiti is set to vote in its presidential runoff on this day and this event only adds to the dramatic circumstances of the tiny island. On Saturday, the formerly exiled President Jean Bertrand Aristide returned to Haiti, stirring up much speculation ahead of the elections.

Our prayers are with Wyclef Jean and we hope that he stays safe.  Stay up!

Update from www.cnn.com:

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (CNN) -- Hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean heard "the sound of the boom" and then realized he was "grazed by a bullet" in Port-au-Prince Saturday night, the eve of Haiti's presidential runoff election, Jean told CNN.
A Haitian national police spokesman said that Jean was treated at a hospital for an injury, but he would not confirm if it was from a bullet or from glass.
The wound was superficial and "he is doing well," Jean spokeswoman Cindy Tanenbaum said.
Jean said he suffered the wound on his hand soon after stepping out of his car to talk on his phone.
He was treated by a doctor at a hospital and released, Tanenbaum said.
Jean would not comment on if he suspected he was targeted by a shooter. "I can't even speculate," he said.
The police investigation was stalled by Jean's refusal to speak to police about the incident, according to Garry Desrosiers, a spokesman for the Haitian national police.
Jean has been helping the presidential campaign of popular musician Michel Martelly, who is on the ballot against former first lady Mirlande Manigat in Sunday's pivotal presidential runoff election.
"It was nothing," said Damien Merlo, a spokeman for the Martelly campaign. "He's fine and out and about getting out the vote for us." Final results of the runoff will be released on April 16, according to officials.
Jean called Sunday's vote "historical."
"This was done, the majority of it, with technology," he said. "It's going great because this moment in history is being defined with the technology, Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Livestream."
Jean, who was born in Haiti, shot to fame in the mid-1990s as a member of the Fugees, a U.S.-based hip-hop and reggae group. He now performs as a solo artist.
He has been an outspoken proponent of Haiti through his Yele Haiti Foundation and was one of the first celebrities to offer aid after the last year's devastating earthquake.
In September, he officially ended his bid to be president of Haiti a month after election officials ruled that he was ineligible to run.
Jean previously vowed to fight the Haitian electoral council's ruling that he was not a resident of the country.
His eligibility had been in question after claims that he had not lived in Haiti for five consecutive years prior to the election, a requirement in the nation's constitution.
