Kanye West, You're Welcome
Definitely not a fan of Kobe, but I'm not that much of a hater where I can't give credit where credit is due. These #KobeSystem commercials are hilarious. Had to share the Kanye West one because it's hip hop. ;-)

Tiye Phoenix-Machine Killa (Dustin 'Em) (audio)
produced by Tiye Phoenix. The fiery lyrically uncompromising first song from the the new soon-to-be-released self-produced TP "TRANSIT TO ILLUMINATION"(2012), Tiye's highly anticipated follow-up TP(or EP) to her critically acclaimed LP Half Woman Half Amazin.
On MLK day, Tiye Phoenix feels it's a good time to release her new single:
Since today, we celebrate the life/legacy of MLK, 1 of the greatest challengers against the "machine" who ever lived, I found it more than fitting 2release this song from my upcoming TP TRANSIT TO ILLUMINATION (not EP- but TP, my initials). Why We Love Dee-1: Ep 11
You should know by now that all 3 of us are avid Dee-1 supporters. Why you may ask? Besides him putting out great music, he speaks the truth. Check out what he had to say (via twitter) about Jay-Z's decision to stop using the term B*tch in his music after the birth of his daughter.
I respect Jigga saying he's not gonna use the word b**th now that he has a daughter, but i think it'd be dope of him to also acknowledge that he's been having a beautiful black mother & wife and that was reason enough for him to have been stopped saying it, but that it took his daughter being born for it to click to him although he coulda been realized it. So props to Jay for the revelation. Better late than never. #progress

Thoughtful Thursday: Jon Connor-True Colors
I admit, it took me a while to finally listen to Jon Connor's latest offering, Season 2. Better late than never, though. I stumbled across this song that totally floored me on this solid mixtape. First off, the sample is so dope. "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper gets a new lease on life. The beat is awesome. Then, Jon Connor comes with some depth of lyricism. I almost cry when I listen to this one. It's so deep. "I'm not a conscious rapper, just a rapper with a conscience." I wish I had the lyrics to post, but y'all will just have to really listen to this one. "I tell my people to play this song for the days that you can't take it, but always rest assured that you're gonna make it!"

2011 ChicZ' Picks (A Few Of Our Favorite Things)
2011 was a great year for Hip Hop from mixtapes to albums, the South to the West coast, and rookie artists to our veteran artists. This year reminded people what it is about Hip Hop that we love and cherish, no matter how she treats us throughout the years. As such, we wanted to give you the ChicZ' favorite Picks for 2011.
